Lauren Tobia

Based in Bristol, Lauren graduated with a first class degree in illustration from the University of the West of England and was highly commended in the Macmillan Children's Book Prize. Her first commission was the prize-winning young fiction series, Anna Hibiscus (Walker Books). Success in the UK and USA meant picture books soon followed including, Anna Hibiscus' Song and Splash, Anna Hibiscus! In 2012 Anna Hibiscus was included in Time Out New York's Top 50 Best Books for Kids; "a book that deserves to become a classic". It was also a 2011 Boston Globe Honor Book for Excellence in Children's Literature. Lauren's other picture book titles include, How To Find a Fruit Bat (Orchard Books) and The Baby Blues (Candlewick).

A regular blogger and tweeter, Lauren's blog was part of the London Literature Festival 2010 Exhibition, '100 Days of Drawing'. When Lauren is not drawing or painting, you will find her at her allotment drinking tea instead of weeding.
